Smith Haughey CEO, Matthew Wikander, has been named to the 2023 edition of the Grand Rapids 200. The editorial staff at Crain’s Grand Rapids Business compiles the inaugural list, naming the 200 most influential business leaders, the “who’s who” of power brokers across West Michigan. The 2023 publication profiles leaders from all industries; ten of which work in the legal field.
This is Wikander’s third appearance on the list. As CEO, he leads more than 60 attorneys across four offices. Wikander is also an active trial lawyer, representing plaintiffs and defendants. He practices primarily in the areas of personal injury and wrongful death, employment, and commercial litigation.

Lesson Learned: While compromise has its place in business, too much compromise can lead to mediocrity and preservation of the status quo. Sometimes, leaders need to lead, and they better be willing to do so.
