Grand Rapids, Mich., November 3, 2014 — Nicholas A. Reister, an attorney with Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge, has been named a 2014 “Up & Coming Lawyer” by Michigan Lawyers Weekly.

From nominations received state-wide, the Michigan Lawyers Weekly panel selects only 30 lawyers to hold this title annually. Selections are made by considering noteworthy cases, firm participation, and community and/or bar association efforts. Selected lawyers are among a variety of practice areas, ranging from commercial litigation to intellectual property to estate planning.

According to Michigan Lawyers Weekly, “Chosen from dozens of nominations, these honorees have spent less than a decade in practice, and display the ambition, drive, determination and accomplishments to set them apart among their peers.”

Nick Reister is an attorney in Smith Haughey’s Grand Rapids office, practicing in trusts and estates, family and closely held business succession planning, and agribusiness. He represents an array of clients, ranging from individuals to families and start-ups to large family-run businesses. Additionally, Nick chairs Smith Haughey’s Agriculture & Agribusiness Team. Nick is highly involved in his community and serves as the Vice President for Outdoor Discovery Center – Macatawa Greenway, Deacon and Past Treasurer for Haven Reformed Church in Hamilton, Michigan; and is a member of the Professional Advisory Committee for Porter Hills Foundation and the Professional Advisory Committee for Grand Rapids Community Foundation.

Michigan Lawyer’s Weekly will acknowledge each honoree at the Up & Coming Lawyers Luncheon on Thursday, December 4, 2014, at the Detroit Marriott Troy.
