Aycock and Huang Elected to Lead Smith Haughey’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee

Grand Rapids, Mich., June 1, 2015— Smith Haughey is pleased to announce that attorneys Thomas W. Aycock and Charissa C. Huang have been selected to serve as co-chairs of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, which champions the efforts to develop and advance diversity by endorsing and encouraging diversity and inclusion throughout all levels of Smith Haughey through training, education and example.

Tom Aycock is a defense lawyer in West Michigan with extensive experience defending clients before judges and juries around the country. In addition to serving as co-chair for the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, he is also involved in the firm’s Associate Development Committee, Hiring Committee and Intern/Extern Committee. Tom is very active in his community through organizations such as Ducks Unlimited, American Legion Post 311 and the Caledonia Sportsman’s Club.

Charissa Huang is a Michigan attorney who devotes the majority of her practice to litigating catastrophic personal injury and employment law claims. Charissa also represents clients in complex commercial litigation matters and professional malpractice claims. In addition to serving as co-chair for the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, Charissa is also involved in the firm’s Women’s Business Initiative. She devotes her spare time to many professional and community organizations; including volunteering for the Women’s Resource Center; serving on the Emerging Leaders Council of D.A. Blodgett – St. Johns; and representing the firm in OutPro, the LGBT professionals group of the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce.
