Smith Haughey Uses Jeans Day to Show Support for the West Michigan Humane Society

On the last Friday of every month the staff of Smith Haughey donates to a specific non-profit organization in exchange for a comfortable jeans day at the office! WithSeptember holding national dog week, the Humane Society of West Michigan (HSWM) was a natural choice for this month’s jeans day donations.

With the mission of promoting the humane treatment and responsible care of animals in West Michigan through education, example, placement and protection, HSWM has been in operation for over 130 years. As an organization, their vision is to create more compassion in the community for all animals and the appropriate care they deserve.

HSWM is unique in comparison to many animal humane shelters because they have a limited admission policy. This policy allows their dedicated staff to focus on finding homes for all adoptable pets and providing them with the best care possible.

As one of the many non-profits of West Michigan, the Humane Society works to provide assistance to over 8,000 animals every year. The organization is 100 percent donor funded and relies on the dedication, compassion and commitment of the community. Smith Haughey and its employees are happy to be among the many philanthropic members of West Michigan that provide to such a deserving organization.

If you are interested in getting more involved with The Humane Society of West Michigan they have a unique and exciting event fast approaching. Bark in the Dark, a glow-in-the-dark 5k run with your dog, is happening on Saturday, October 8 at Riverside Park. Registration for that event begins at 5 pm with fun activities going on until the start of the run/walk at 6:45pm. Stick around after the walk for a beer and other treats!
