Biography

Thomas Nafziger is an associate attorney at our Grand Rapids office with a focus on Medical Malpractice defense. 

Tom graduated from Hawaiʻi Pacific University with his bachelor’s degree in psychology and received his Juris Doctorate from University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa – William S. Richardson School of Law.

Tom was born and raised in Whitmore Lake, Michigan. After college and law school in Hawaiʻi, Tom worked in insurance defense before joining the City and County of Honolulu as Deputy Corporation Counsel. Tom defended Honolulu against personal injury lawsuits and prosecuted liquor license violations on behalf of the Honolulu Liquor Commission. Prior to joining Smith Haughey, he worked on class and collective actions under the FLSA at Sommers Schwartz in their wage and hour division.

Outside of the office, he likes to spend his time fishing, hunting and swimming at his family’s property in Gladwin County. Thomas also enjoys reading adventure and exploration books.
