Shawn D. Hamacher, a shareholder and member of the firm’s business and real estate group, advises clients on a wide variety of business transactions and corporate matters ranging from corporate organization, formation, and governance to complex mergers and acquisitions, succession planning, and dissolutions.

His practice also includes real estate lease, purchase, and sale transactions; domestic and cross-border commercial agreements; and matters involving emerging technologies and digital governance, including e-commerce, privacy, cybersecurity, and AI development.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Hamacher spent nearly three decades as general counsel at public and privately held companies on the Fortune 500 and Forbes America’s Largest Private Companies lists, where he oversaw and managed the legal affairs for global business operations in the Americas, Europe, and Asia Pacific, supporting business objectives and driving strategic priorities in the regions. Now he serves in a general counsel role for several of his private business clients.

Mr. Hamacher is a licensed attorney in Michigan and Indiana with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and a law degree (cum laude) from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, where he was a Hon. Cale J. Holder Scholar and a member of the Indiana Law Review. He also served as a judicial intern to the Hon. David F. Hamilton, United States District Judge, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.  He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, Indiana State Bar Association, and the State Bar of Michigan’s Business Law Section.
