Jeremy N. Orenstein



Jeremy is an associate in Smith Haughey’s Grand Rapids office, practicing in the firm’s litigation practice group. Jeremy assists companies with member-oppression claims, protects clients’ interests in disputed trust assets, and litigates contractual disputes on behalf of his clients.

Prior to joining Smith Haughey, Jeremy practiced as a research attorney with the Michigan Court of Appeals, where he conducted independent legal research of appellate arguments, evaluated trial court records, and drafted objective research reports and proposed opinions for Court of Appeals cases. Jeremy was also responsible for mentoring new research attorneys and performed a “mini-clerkship” with Michigan Court of Appeals Judge James Robert Redford, during which he worked on a procedural issue pertaining to medical malpractice.

Jeremy coached middle school basketball at Vista Charter Academy before COVID-19 brought the season to an end. In his free time, he enjoys watching and playing any sport, trying new restaurants, and spending time with family and friends.
