Heather Gin is an associate attorney in our Grand Rapids office and a member of our medical malpractice defense group.
Before joining Smith Haughey, Heather worked as a summer associate at Parker Harvey, PLC where she gained experience in estate planning, employment and contract disputes, and municipal matters related to Michigan’s Zoning Enabling Act. In addition, she has post-grad experience with political consulting and campaign work.
Heather attended the University of Michigan and earned a bachelor’s degree in political science & international studies. She went on to obtain a Juris Doctorate at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law. While at Indiana University, Heather was President of the Student Bar Association, quarterfinalist in the Sherman Minton Moot Court Competition, and served as Articles Editor of the Indiana Journal of Law & Social Equality.
She also volunteered with the Wills and Advanced Directives program where she drafted estate planning documents for low-income individuals, and the Protective Order Project where she helped domestic violence victims obtain protective orders.
Before attending law school, Heather taught competitive dance. Outside of work, she enjoys running, reading biographies, and watching political dramas.
