Tony Taweel is a partner Smith Haughey Rice and Roegge’s medical malpractice defense practice group. An experienced attorney, Tony focuses his practice primarily on the defense of hospitals, physicians, nurses, physician’s assistants, nursing homes, and other healthcare professionals involved in medical malpractice litigation. He also assists health care professionals with licensing investigations and has successfully tried several administrative licensing matters. He has defended healthcare institutions and professionals for over 25 years.
Tony concentrates on a detailed preparation of his cases, which allows his clients to make well-informed risk decisions at trial or during early resolution efforts. He engages in an aggressive pre-trial motion practice, which has resulted in the dismissal of claims against his clients. He has also successfully tried numerous malpractice cases to jury verdict.
Tony graduated from the University of Michigan—Dearborn with a B.S. in Economics. He then earned his J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.
