Smith Haughey Welcomes Attorney Jeremy N. Orenstein

Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge is pleased to announce that attorney Jeremy N. Orenstein has joined the firm’s Grand Rapids office. Practicing in the firm’s litigation practice group, Jeremy assists companies with member-oppression claims, protects clients’ interests in disputed trust assets, and litigates contractual disputes on behalf of his clients.

Prior to joining Smith Haughey, Jeremy practiced as a research attorney with the Michigan Court of Appeals, where he conducted independent legal research of appellate arguments, evaluated trial court records, and drafted objective research reports and proposed opinions for Court of Appeals cases. Jeremy was also responsible for mentoring new research attorneys and performed a “mini-clerkship” with Michigan Court of Appeals Judge James Robert Redford, during which he worked on a procedural issue pertaining to medical malpractice.

Jeremy graduated cum laude from George Mason University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in criminology, law and society. He earned his Juris Doctorate, magna cum laude, from Michigan State University College of Law, where he served as managing editor of the Michigan State Law Review and graduated in the top 15% of his class.
