In a day where civil trials are few and far between, Smith Haughey attorneys have some of the most extensive trial experience in the state. In our most recent victory, attorneys Michael Miller and Ed Lynch obtained a verdict in favor of an anesthesiologist at a prominent hospital after four days of trial. The plaintiff alleged that the physician was negligent during his 11-hour craniofacial surgery, causing neuropathies and significant damages. Miller and Lynch showed that the physician complied with the standard of care and that the plaintiff’s damages were attributed to another cause. The jury returned a verdict after just two hours of deliberation, finding that the physician performed properly and in accordance with the standard of care. This result is yet another example of why Smith Haughey continues to be the preeminent medical malpractice defense firm in Michigan.
