Smith Haughey Founding Partner L.R. “Bud” Roegge Receives Degage Ministries’ 2016 Marge Palmerlee Community Service Award

Grand Rapids, Mich., December 6, 2016 — L. Roland “Bud” Roegge, an attorney and founding partner in Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge’s Grand Rapids office, has been honored with the Dégagé Ministries’ 2016 Marge Palmerlee Community Service Award.

The award was established by David Cobb of Innovative Insurance Advisors in 2011 in honor of MargePalmerlee, the organization’s current executive director.

Mr. Roegge has been a member of Dégagé Ministries’ Board of Directors for  the past eight years, and has been providing legal volunteer work for them for the past five years. In this work, Mr. Roegge works with the ministry’s patrons on a variety of their legal issues and assists them in finding attorneys that will take pro bono work.  Mr. Roegge also advises the ministry on a variety of legal matters and occasionally volunteers in assisting the kitchen staff by serving meals.

In addition to honoring Marge, the goal of the award is to continue to recognize others who possess the same characteristics such as compassion, mercy, hope, dignity, encouragement, dedication, honor and unconditional love. Recipients have demonstrated these characteristics by giving back their time, talents, treasures and testimonies, not only to Dégagé, but to the hundreds of patrons served daily at Dégagé – many in a very quiet and diligent manner.

Mr. Roegge is a well-respected and seasoned trial lawyer in the state of Michigan. He is also very active in the Grand Rapids community and has volunteered countless hours to not only Dégagé Ministries, but also the Justice Foundation of West Michigan and Legal Aid of West Michigan.
