Courtrooms Reopen; Smith Haughey Trial Mastery Reignites

On the heels of a recent jury defense verdict for a Smith Haughey client in Grand Rapids (press release here), this time a Smith Haughey Ann Arbor trial team secured unanimous defense verdicts for three ear, nose and throat doctors on April 22nd in a lawsuit involving a patient’s claims around post-surgical conditions.  While courts across the state have been largely closed for civil trials since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic (this case was originally scheduled for a fall 2020 trial at the Washtenaw County Courthouse), Smith Haughey lawyers’ trial skills have remained laser sharp despite the long pause, as evidenced by these recent successes on behalf of our clients.

In this case, attorneys Michael Miller and Nick Nahorski led a relentless and committed team that included attorney Sarah Berard, paralegals Maureen Owen and Shirley Potter and legal assistant Annette Duyck.  The group successfully achieved directed or unanimous verdicts for the three doctors, providing compelling proof once again of Smith Haughey’s status as the go to trial and litigation firm in the State of Michigan.
