Grand Rapids, Mich., December 13, 2017 — Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge is pleased to announce that attorney Jay C. Kakaty has joined the firm and will be practicing in our Grand Rapids office, although he will also be working closely with our Muskegon, Holland and Ann Arbor offices.
Jay practices in the areas of estate planning, business planning and entertainment law, assisting individuals, families, and businesses in successfully resolving their legal problems and executing their specific goals. He has extensive experience practicing entertainment law, being listed in 2013 as a “who’s who” in Michigan’s music industry by Crain’s Detroit Business. He has also helped to negotiate and advise clients with both recording and publishing deals with major labels and publishers.
After earning his Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University, he continued on to earn his Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan’s Probate & Estate and Business Law Section in addition to being the manager for the band Pop Evil.
