Attorney Adam Tountas Named a “Leader in the Law” by Michigan Lawyers Weekly

Adam Tountas, a shareholder in Smith Haughey’s Grand Rapids office and chair of the firm’s litigation practice group, has been named to the 2021 class of “Leader in the Law” by Michigan Lawyers Weekly. This program recognizes 25 outstanding attorneys in Michigan’s legal community, which includes more than 35,000 practicing attorneys.

According to Michigan Lawyers Weekly, the publication selects attorneys who are “setting the standard for other lawyers through their outstanding contributions to the practice of law and the justice system in Michigan. They have demonstrated tremendous leadership and offer a wealth of expertise in diverse areas of the law.”

Adam specializes in complex, high-exposure litigation. His caseload is broad, and includes everything from bet-the-company commercial disputes to claims alleging wrongful death.  Adam likes being a lawyer because it allows him to think creatively. And, oftentimes, Adam’s inventive, “outside-the-box” approach allows him to resolve a case before his clients rack up significant legal fees.

In addition to leading the firm’s largest practice group, Adam also serves on Smith Haughey’s board of directors. Adam’s passion for advocacy has also motivated him to take a leadership role in his community. He serves on several boards and committees, and volunteers his time on behalf of organizations that provide mentorship for underprivileged youth, including Upward Bound, a program that creates opportunities for low-income and potential first generation college students.
