Smith Haughey Welcomes Three New Attorneys, Joining Grand Rapids and Muskegon Offices

Grand Rapids, Mich., October 20, 2017 Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge is pleased to announce that attorneys Ashley C. Quackenbush and Ryne J. Takacs have joined the firm, practicing in our Grand Rapids office, and attorney Christopher S. Berry joined the firm, practicing in our Muskegon office.

Ashley has joined the medical malpractice defense practice group at the firm’s Grand Rapids office. She has substantial experience as a medical malpractice defense attorney in the Detroit, Michigan area, where she worked prior to Smith Haughey. She spearheaded litigation strategies for high-exposure cases and obtained dismissal of multiple claims. Ashley earned her J.D. from Wayne State University Law School. Previously, she earned her B.A. in psychology with a minor in crime and justice from the University of Michigan. There she graduated with University Honors and was a James B. Angell Scholar.

Ryne has joined the group at the firm’s Grand Rapids office. Prior to joining Smith Haughey, Ryne practiced extensively throughout Illinois, serving as counsel in matters involving medical malpractice and long-term care defense. He earned his B.A. from the University of Iowa before earning his J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.

Chris is a member of our Muskegon office, where the entirety of his practice will be on all aspects of litigation. He has extensive experience in trying cases on behalf of businesses, individuals, insurers and insureds throughout the state of Michigan. He has spent many years working as an attorney in West Michigan, but most recently was the Senior Vice President of Strategic Development & Business Relations for Link Capital, LLC in Chicago. Chris is also a graduate of Wayne State University Law School, where he earned his J.D. Prior to his time there, he earned his B.A. from Hope College, where he majored in political science and economics.
