Scott Brookens is an attorney in West Michigan who practices in the areas of business transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate law. In addition to his successful track record in the film and media production industry, Scott has experience working with small businesses and start-ups on growth and development strategies for their businesses.
Scott worked as a summer associate in Smith Haughey’s Grand Rapids office in 2013, researching complex legal issues including international joint-venture formations, medical malpractice defense, premises liability litigation, and residential construction contracting. His previous professional experience also includes working for the Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council, managing a startup media distribution company, and serving as a producer for Gorilla Pictures, a film production company with offices in Grand Rapids and Los Angeles.
Scott graduated with a B.S. in Communication Studies from Grand Valley State University. He later went on to simultaneously earn his J.D. and MBA from the Michigan State University College of Law and the Eli Broad Graduate School of Management, respectively.
In his spare time, Scott enjoys spending time with his amazing wife and incredible children, watching HGTV and the Food Network (especially Income Property and Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, respectively), catching the latest JJ Abrams film, and eating stuffed crust pizza from Pizza Hut.
