Ashley Quackenbush is a shareholder who focuses her practice on medical malpractice defense litigation.
Ashley represents hospitals, doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers and institutions throughout the state in all stages of litigation, licensing investigation, and other disciplinary action. She also represents Medical Control Authorities throughout the appeals process and counsels them with respect to compliance with protocols.
Prior to joining Smith Haughey, Ashley gained substantial experience in complex personal injury cases, including medical malpractice, gas and electric public utility accidents, and ski area liability in the Detroit, Michigan area. She spearheaded litigation strategies for high-exposure cases and obtained dismissal of multiple claims. In addition, Ashley has spoken at numerous medical legal seminars regarding topics in medical malpractice litigation, hospital risk management, and Medical Control Authority protocols.
Ashley earned her J.D. from Wayne State University Law School. During her time there, she was on Moot Court, wherein she won the Best Brief Award. She also founded the Health Law Association. While at Wayne State, she served as a law clerk for the University of Michigan Health System Legal Office and a research assistant focusing on health law issues. Ashley earned her B.A. in Psychology with a Minor in Crime and Justice from the University of Michigan. There she graduated with University Honors and was a James B. Angell Scholar.
In her spare time, Ashley enjoys spending time with family and friends. When she is not soaking up the beautiful outdoors, she enjoys a good book.
