Smith Haughey Welcomes Summer Associates

Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge is pleased to announce that three law school students, Lauren Ayoub, Kevin Cowan, and Christian Leeka have joined the firm as Summer Associates.  While at Smith Haughey, they will have an opportunity to work on projects for multiple attorneys and practice areas and will also have opportunities to attend and observe hearings, lay and expert dispositions, mediations, client meetings, and trials.  

Lauren Ayoub

Lauren earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 2017, where she majored in Political Science and received a minor in Women’s Studies. Presently, Lauren is pursuing her J.D. from Wayne State University Law School and serves as a Senior Articles Editor for The Wayne Law Review and as a Senior Coach for Wayne Law Moot Court. She also participated as an oralist on the Gibbons National Criminal Procedure Moot Court Competition team and served as the student representative and American Bar Association representative for the Student Board of Governors and President of Wayne Law’s Entrepreneurship and Business Law Society. Lauren also participated as a student attorney for the Business and  Community Law Clinic and completed an externship at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan as a judicial intern to the Honorable Avern Cohn.  

Kevin Cowan

Kevin Cowan  earned a B.S. in Law and Economics from Central Michigan University in 2018. He is currently a rising 3L at the Michigan State University College of Law where he participated in the Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic and will be the Assistant Managing Editor for the International Law Review next term. Last year he worked as a legal intern in the Corrections Department for the Michigan Department of Attorney General.

Christian Leeka

Christian earned his Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Michigan in 2018. He is pursuing his J.D. from Wayne State University Law School and will graduate in May 2021. He was a Governor in the Student Board of Governors and is also a member of Wayne Law’s Mock Trial team.
