Smith Haughey Welcomes Attorney Jeffrey S. Dornbos

Holland, Mich., August 7, 2017 — Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge is pleased to announce that attorney Jeffrey S. Dornbos has joined the firm. While Jeff will be based in the firm’s Holland office, he will also be working in the Grand Rapids and Muskegon offices.

Most recently, Jeff practiced as a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.; before that, he spent six years practicing in Michigan. He has been selected as a “Rising Star” attorney by Super Lawyer – and honor he has received for the last three years. Prior to becoming an attorney, Jeff was a high school teacher, soccer coach and sailing instructor in Holland, Mich. He has served on the Board of Directors for Child Development Services Lakeshore Head Start, Ottawa County Red Cross, and for the national advisory board for the American Red Cross Restoring Family Links.

Jeff, a graduate of Calvin College with a Master’s Degree from Western Michigan University, earned his law degree at Case Western Reserve University. He graduated magna cum laude and Order of the Coif, earned multiple writing awards and scholarships, and was tasked with making recommendations to the war crimes division for the Government of Uganda. Jeff is licensed to practice law in the state of Michigan, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Federal Court of Claims, and the United States Supreme Court.

Jeff focuses his practice on employment litigation, appeals, and professional liability defense. As a native of the lakeshore, Jeff values his community and is excited to be back home serving that community through his legal practice.
