On Saturday, March 16, the Forest Hills Eastern High School mock trial team advanced from the regional tournament, which was held at the Kent County Courthouse. The team is coached by Smith Haughey attorney Tom McCarthy and his wife, Linda McCarthy, who is a teacher at the high school.
The team’s success at the regional competition resulted in an appearance and fourth place finish at the Michigan mock trial state championship, which was held on Saturday, March 23 in Lansing.
